My students need hands-on manipulatives where they can practice various reading skills which will help them become top readers!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Carper's classroom raised $350

My Students
Did you love to read as a child? Since my students don't have the resources to many books and activities to help increase their reading comprehension, they struggle during reading and are becoming frustrated on state assessments.
Do you remember sitting in your fourth grade class and being totally lost during reading instruction?
My students read stories, but have trouble comprehending and understanding the text in front of them.
My students live in a high poverty area and we don't have the resources to get new materials and games to help with their learning. Since they have a hard time learning without hands-on games and activities, they are easily frustrated and not motivated to work to their full potential.
With the addition of these resources in our classroom, I know that we can bring out the full potential of my students and raise their self-confidence during reading. With the ever increasing rigor of the state standards and assessments, now is the time to help these children!
My Project
Students learn best in small groups when they are allowed to work with other children. These materials will be perfect for the students to work together and share their knowledge of the reading concepts with each other. By participating in these activities, they will be able to not only pass (and excel) at the end-of-the-year state assessments, but they will learn skills that they will be able to carry with them for the rest of their lives!
Many students struggle at reading and would simply prefer to give up.
But, if we can reach them at this young age, by using these materials, they will finally be able to "get it" and their confidence level will be boosted tremendously! Your support will help these children grow and will make all the difference in their lives!
