Help me give my students a better chance at learning by providing them with the proper visual aids. Middle school is a very pivotal time in an adolescents life, they are just figuring out themselves.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This is my 4th year as educator. However its my first year as a 6th grade english teacher. My students are mostly low-income students who live in the East New York area of Brooklyn. Understanding that boys learn differently than girls is one of the biggest discoveries in being able to educate them. Boys are full of energy and love working with their hands. While girls are expressive and love to write. Now how do I encourage my boys to want to read and write as much as the girls do? Boys tend to need extra help with being organized. They are visual learners and often times have to hear instructions more than once but that's what makes them so great. Knowing this I am trying to make sure that I reach every learning type in my classroom by having the right materials for both the girls and boys.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students well help them to become better learners and readers. The large carpet will be placed in the front of the classroom library as a tool to invite them to read. The pocket charts will be used to keep the classroom organized as I teach 4 ELA classes. The writing process folder will help the Writer's Workshop process run smoothly from day to day. The sentence strips and reading comprehension charts will serve as visual aids while teaching ELA. I am asking for your help with making my classroom run smoothly and to remain organized.
