Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine sitting in a classroom and the teacher trying to teach you a lesson in a foreign language? My students are bilingual and their primary language is Spanish. When I teach math and science, those subjects are taught in English. This disconnect affects my students.

My students attend a Title I school in Texas.

The majority of my class is on free and reduced lunch and they come from families where parents work multiple jobs to make ends meet. They are a transient population, but while they are in my class I want them to learn in the best possible manner.

My Project

I am requesting science and math activity centers. These materials will aide me in providing effective instruction to my students. My students are visual learners who need to see what I am talking about, the abstract concepts are not allowing my students to truly "learn" math and science.

This project is so important for my class because these materials will allow my students to see and touch topics about math and science.

These materials will allow my students to explore materials, and to think.
