My students enter the kindergarten classroom eager, anxious, and willing to learn. It is very important that each of them is met at his or her developmental level and is taught in a way that keeps them excited and engaged in learning.
These students are ready to become 21st Century learners by learning cooperation and content through the tools of tomorrow!
My Project
Art is an equalizer in the classroom. In this day of Common Core and increased academic expectations, it is of utmost importance to include art in the curriculum. Not only does art empower students by helping them develop important academic skills; it is a way to relax, enjoy, explore, and create.
I am always in need of art supplies.
I am hoping to add creative art based items, such as quality paper, innovative paints, and drawing books to my art center. Each year we create beautiful art projects to display in the classroom, hallway, take home, or to add to our kindergarten portfolios. Children love them, and their creations instill a deep sense of pride.
Keeping my classroom stocked with art supplies allows my students opportunity to create, express, think critically, and collaborate.
It is always exciting to see students working together, collaboratively and critically, to create a product of which they are very proud. Yes through art, all areas of academics are certainly enhanced.
