Help me give my students the supplies they need to become successful such as Kleenex, Clorox Wipes, glue, sticky notes, Expo markers, and so much more.
I teach at a small rural school in upper east Tennessee, we have approximately 275 students, PreK through fifth grade. All students receive free breakfast and lunch. We live in an area where there is no industry so if parents do have jobs it is minimum wage pay.
Close to 90% of our students live in the poverty range.
As an educator I know I must not only educate these students but show them love and attention they may not receive at home.
My Project
While some classrooms need books or technology my classroom needs the basics to get started. Pencils, glue, book bins, and cleaning supplies will help us begin the year without parents being stressed over whether to pay the electric bill, buy groceries or school supplies.
Clorox wipes and Kleenex is a much-needed supply to keep students healthy so they will not miss school days due to illness.
It is imperative for students to be in class each day, if they are sick and miss they fall behind. It is my goal to keep them well so they continue to make gains and become successful throughout the school year.
