This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
For the past three years, my 10th grade students have read Kazuo Ishiguro's novel Klara and the Sun. We read it and discuss the impact of technological innovation on our society; each year, particularly with the growth of AI, we consider how this story teaches us about our humanity. Students tell me that it's a book that sticks with them, and it is one they remember fondly.
My next incoming class will be significantly larger; as a result, I will need to add copies to our class set to ensure that each student has access to this book.
