Help Underprivileged Students Learn How to Jump Rope

My Project

I plan to try to teach my students how to jump rope. Since COVID has impacted so many of my students, I've come to realize that many of my students struggle with being able to jump rope. Jump rope is a great way for students to work on their cardiorespiratory endurance in a way that is fun, exciting, and challenging for them!

My goal is for all of my students to be able to jump rope for at least 5 consecutive jumps by the end of first grade.

Many of them would not be able to do this yet nor will they with the fast jump ropes that our school currently has. But, with the help of these jump ropes I feel confident that this is achievable! The addition of the pool noodles is for the younger students to be able to use the pool noodles as a replacement for the jump rope to slow the rope down and visualize what they need to jump over. This visual tool will also be a great way to help the many students at our school who are multilingual and who have disabilities to rely less on the verbal cues and more on the visualization of what to do!
