Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I public school, and the students I work with are a fourth grade class in a low income neighborhood in east Oakland. A significant percentage of my students have mild/moderate learning disabilities and are transitioning from special education classes to a general education classroom. This is reflected in our federal funding for free breakfast and lunch, as well as parent literacy and vocational classes. I also have students who are new to the country and are just learning English. Having digital and print resources will allow me to best serve their learning needs without being dependent upon school or district funding.

My Project

As students, teacher as parents know, there comes at time in the school year where the budget has been exhausted, yet the learning, assignments and testing are in full swing! Now that winter is ending, we have reached this point in our classroom. Your generous donation will go towards helping my students secure the basic resources they need to continue to do some of their favorite assignments such as number talk, synonym matches and Venn diagrams. My students use both dry erase marker and pencils in nearly every aspect of their daily learning and will be forever grateful to donors like you that they can finish the year doing the assignments they love unimpeded by supply rations.
