Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The vast majority of students are first-generation immigrants who are striving to become the first in their families to attend a university in the United States. They are living through the struggles of first-generation immigrants and have become the physical embodiment of the sacrifices their parents and guardians have had to endure.

Even though they face these challenges, these students have volunteered their limited time to their community and neighborhoods.

Many have started participating in organizations to help the homeless, clean and beautify parks and beaches, as well as mentor elementary students to achieve higher academic success.

My Project

As we return from Covid closures, we now have more students than classroom space on my campus. In order to accommodate this need, I have been tasked as the traveling teacher this year. In other words, I don't have a classroom to call my own.

Normally this would not be a problem, since I have had to do this in the past, but this year, with Covid rules, coupled with the fact much of our school's technology is either in need or service or missing, I would really appreciate having to not rely on what is in the classroom, and what is in my cart.

Unfortunately, the projector I have chosen is very expensive. In normal circumstances, I could probably do with a more affordable projector, but the main reason why I am requesting this particular projector is that, in my classroom, there just isn't any space for me to setup a traditional projector. I cannot arrange desks in the rooms I visit, as they are not mine. I cannot have cords running down the middle of the floor as this would be a safety issue. Due to these reasons, I have to request the more expensive short throw projector.
