Chemistry is always taken as one of the most difficult subjects due to its abstract nature and complex terminology. These negative perspectives and attitudes among students can affect the way students behave in class or the way they participate in class activities. Providing the students with hands-on activities to understand the complex ideas in chemistry is one of the goals of teaching and learning Chemistry. However, providing students an opportunity to appreciate the evolution of the complex ideas in Chemistry through fun illustrated books is a window to engage students in reading and comprehension , and in enhancing their imagination.
Reading the Cartoon Guide to Chemistry is an intentional strategy in presenting Chemistry in a lighthearted and entertaining manner, the book may spark an interest in the subject among students who previously found it uninteresting or difficult.
Furthermore, the reading sessions I will be providing will not only enhance literacy skills but will also support students with various educational needs. Its self paced feature will enable my students to progress through the book, allowing them to review and revisit topics as needed, thus, reinforcing their understanding.
