Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every morning I greet my students at the door, with a big smile and a good morning/good afternoon warm welcome.
Most of my students are Hispanic with a small percentage of Asian and Afro American.
Some are happy to be here and some are homesick.
Most of my students are hard workers, and involved in extra curricular activities like band and sports. They love when I go see them and cheer "Go rebels"
My Project
My students need glue and books closer to their reading level. I already run out of two full supplies of glue sticks. We use glue every day to attach the mini lesson or the graphic organizers in the notebook. Also, while we are having SSR (Silent Sustained Reading), I noticed that the few books we have are too hard/higher level than my newcomers reading level.
My project will give my students the possibility to choose from a wide variety of books at their reading level, and to feel welcome and warm as their home every time they walk in my classroom.
