This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Every teacher and everyone who knows a teacher understands that there is a point in the school year where you are running low on supplies but still have months left in the school year. The colored pencils are close to stubs, the markers are running dry, and the pencil sharpener is grumbling like a lawnmower. This is about the time that the students have used up all their pencils and most of your loaner pencils have vanished like Thanos snapped them out of existence.
Without school supplies students are unable to engage with the material in creative and interactive ways.
Making the lesson more hands-on is often where students discover their aha moment and what we are learning clicks in their brain. It is also incredibly important for the students whose brains process information differently. They may not pass the test where they have to write multiple paragraphs but if you give them a project where they have to create a visual representation and explain it, then they succeed.
