Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I am a teacher at a charter school. I work in the music classroom. We work with every kid in our building, kindergarten through eighth grade and the school has not had a music teacher in a while. The room looks like a storage unit and I have spent quite a bit of my own money to make it feel homey to the students.

I have requested supplies like special whiteboards with staffs on them, clipboards because my room does not have desks, and pencils because I can never seem to buy enough of them.

Most of my students, if not all, come from a low income household and cannot afford to bring basic supplies to school. This building is their safe haven.
