My students need an 8-in-1 Music Staff Easel, a set of Mecliboards and a Music Stave Easel.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Nelson's classroom raised $317
This project is fully funded
We are a public elementary school in New York City with a large population that is culturally diverse and of low socioeconomic status. Our school has a very healthy music program that includes: band, chorus, violin, keyboard and guitar, in addition to a strong general music curriculum. We are a K-5 school with nearly 1300 students who attend music classes in one of three places: their classroom, the auditorium or the keyboard lab.
We believe that learning to read and write music is a key to helping students develop in academic areas outside of music class. Thus, we try to teach the language of music to as many students as possible. However, our teaching areas are limited to large antiquated chalkboards and small dry-erase boards. When a teacher is writing on the board, many students get lost because they cannot clearly see the lesson. It is also time consuming to stop and draw a staff or keyboard to illustrate a concept.
These large dry-erase boards could be utilized in both our keyboard lab and auditorium to clearly show students the music skills they are so eager to learn. From our first graders, who are just learning to play keyboard, to our fifth grade band students who are learning to compose, this gift would touch every student who walks into a music classroom.
Your donation will allow us to supply our music classrooms with visual aids for true music enrichment and higher level thinking. Thousands of students will learn to read and write in a new language (music) every year, thanks to your generosity.
