Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Not all students have the school supplies they need that can help them be successful scholars when they start their sixth grade, middle school year. Schools often do not provide teachers with the classroom supplies we need to provide a safe and effective learning environment. Donations from valued community partners through DonorsChoose help to support our efforts to provide a high-quality education and learning environment to students. As part of the sixth grade team of teachers, we often have to purchase items for our classrooms from our own pocket. With the help of DonorsChoose, our team will have the essential supplies for our students as they enter sixth grade in September 2024.

On my sixth grade team, teachers & students need cleaning and education/instructional supplies such as: sanitizer bottles and wipes, tissues, pre-sharpened pencils, notebooks, lined paper, color copy paper, and other supplies to get the school year off to a great start!

With this project, our classrooms will have supplies to provide students with educational materials to keep the classroom clean and provide students and teachers with the materials we need to build our community of active learners.
