Help Support and Enhance Classroom Library for Literacy Success

Help me give my students fiction and nonfiction books to support their ability to build comprehension skills and strategies to apply text-to-self, text-to-world, and text-to-text connection for reading and writing.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Alexis's classroom raised $231

My Students

My students are diverse learners that are willing to try different strategies and activities to decode unknown words, improve personal reading levels, and read for comprehension. My students understand that they are accountable for their own learning and I am interested in exploring ways in which I can support their overall learning and growth. I enjoy their enthusiasm about learning and I continuously express to them how impressed and proud I am of how they take their learning seriously.

As a Special Education Teacher in a 2nd grade ICT classroom, it is important to create an environment where all students are included.

My students have access to the general curriculum due to their willingness and drive to learn. With that being said, when students have accessibility to books, then they are successful in both reading and writing.

My Project

Teachers are always thinking of ways to help a child improve their reading level and stamina. I believe that this starts with the classroom library. I have high expectations of my students, and it is recommended that they read fiction and nonfiction books daily to support their ability to decode, retell, and make inferences. An enhanced classroom library will definitely help my students achieve their personal reading goals.

I would like for all students in my class to have a book baggie for both school and home environments.

Since reading and writing work hand-in-hand, it important that students are exposed to many books and genres to improve both reading and writing. My objective is to ensure that students can emulate and apply craft moves from various mentor texts to build on the quality of their own work. When students are presented with text support to enhance their learning, then they are more successful and engaged learners.
