This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This is my first year teaching Kindergarten. My students have been growing and blossoming all year long in Kindergarten. I am hoping to get some new books to help build our classroom library. Reading will help my students build vocabulary skills and foundational skills as they prepare for first grade. I also want to be able to provide my students with a book to take home for their home library at the end of the school year.
My students are at a Title I school with limited resources and funding.
Puzzles enable a child to develop problem solving skills on how to place a piece in the correct space, cognitive skills through visual space awareness, fine motor skills to learn how to grasp and pick up pieces through manipulation, hand/eye coordination by placing puzzle pieces in correct order and social skills by completing puzzles with peers. My students love doing puzzles and I would love to get more varieties for them.
Finally, over the course of the year, many of our school supplies such as crayons, markers, gluesticks, dry erase markers have either worn out or ran out. Please help to supply my classroom with more so my students can continue to draw pictures, write opinions about books, and more!
