My students need devices that will help them to participate in music and classroom activities despite the severe physical and or speech/language challenges that they face.
The middle and high school students that I teach may face severe physical and/or academic challenges - but with your help those challenges won't stop them from participating in a band, chorus or music class.
As part of my music program I direct a bucket drum band and a chorus. I teach general music classes and assist with a more advanced percussion band. Many of our students are unable to participate in the conventional way due to physical, language or intellectual disabilities; with the right resources that will not stop them from being part of our performing groups or from participating meaningfully in a music class.
If we receive additional Big Macks and
I-Talk 2 devices, I can program musical chords, melodic lines, individual tones, drumbeats, phrases and/or words. All the student would have to do is strike the device and he would "strike a chord."
As more students come into our program, we need more devices. I teach in a public school system which faces the same budget cuts and funding issues as so many other programs. So many students want to participate in our various performing groups and in activities in my general music classes - and without these additional devices they cannot benefit as much as we or they would like. With your generous donations more of our students will be able to "Strike a Chord." Thank you so much.
