Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Remember how exciting the first day of school was and the school supply shopping that followed it? What if you brought home your supply list and your parents told you they couldn't afford these items?
My students come from more than 17 countries with more than 10 different first languages spoken and 78% of our students are entitled to free lunches.
You can see a lot of smiling faces in our hallways, however many of them don't have the best home lives.
My Project
My students will be able to start the school year off on the right foot with the basic materials they need to begin learning. Pens, pocket charts, highlighters, and pencils are needed every moment that students are in the classroom! Working in a classroom with students with disabilities, individual white boards provide them with an engaging tool to answer questions in class with and arts and crafts materials will help them illustrate their writing.
The way I see things, it is my responsibility to ensure my students have all the tools they need to be successful in school.
By providing these basic supplies for my students, their families will have less of a financial burden and the children will have the necessary tools for their education.
