Help me give my students hardcover books to help them learn to love reading!

My Students
One of the most important things we do in first grade is learn to read! Reading is a core element of every classroom, but only in first do you see children go from a level 3 to a level 18. By the end of the year they are able to read chapter books.
Many of my students come from low income households with free or reduced lunch.
They have diverse needs and yet so many similar ones. These books will help meet some of these.
Students love to read books and there is nothing like holding a hardback classic in your hands, smelling the pages, and getting lost in a good read. It was incredible to watch student learning take off at an astronomical pace as students embraced the idea that words are stories!
My Project
We are requesting books for our classroom. Students come with a love of learning in first grade. Helping students with books will allow them to continue this love and help it grow even stronger. In the past, I have bought hardcover books with my own money to read to students. The only problem was that often these students wanted to read them and they are expensive!
This project will give students quality, hardbound books that they can read and love for years to come.
These include classics by Jack Keats (The Snowy Day) and Bemelman (Madeline series.) As well as other books: Splat the Cat and Frog and Toad Adventures. This will give them a real opportunity to get to know literature without worrying about a book falling apart on them. Thank you for your help!
