My Students

My students are just plain awesome! Regardless of their daily struggles they always prove to persevere! For many of my students, our classroom is their second home, even as uts moved into the virtual world. It is their safe space where they can escape the many pressures of adolescence and just be themselves.

Rather than the easy route of giving up, they choose to come together, to push themselves and to persevere, no matter how far they are behind academically.

They are dedicated students who continuously push themselves to be better.

100% of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch based on their socioeconomic status.

Once you get them excited about a topic or strategy, they are totally engaged in what we are doing. I want to give them that spark for all that they do, which will become a challenge as we transition to the remote setting. My goal is to set them up for success by providing them with the tools they need to access the curriculum effectively at home during the global pandemic.

My Project

A subscription to Scholastic Scope Magazine for every student will make a tremendous effect on my middle school students and the world! Scholastic Scope Magazine is delivered monthly (both digitally and in print) and from prior experience I can tell you its AMAZING! The students love the colorful, adolescent based articles and activities in Scope and feel understood when reading it. On top of that, the thrill of each getting their very own copy never disappoints, its actually adorable how excited they get! I could rave forever about the success I've had using this as a teaching resource in the past.

With a year of virtual learning on our hands I feel getting their own monthly subscription of Scope Magazine will not only boost their spirits with joy, but will keep them engaged through great readings and fun activities that help them master the essential 21st century skills.
