My Project
Hi there! I am seeking financial assistance to complete my practicum and capstone for my Master's in Education Degree focusing on Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Mindfulness, and Yoga. Since January 2023, I’ve been training with Breathe For Change, earning certifications in Yoga (RYT 500), SEL, Mindfulness and Transformational Teaching, and Leadership.
As a special educator, I implement trauma-informed wellness practices in my classroom to support students with Autism, ADHD, and Specific Learning Disabilities.
The daily SEL activities help my students reduce anxiety and improve focus, fostering a calmer learning environment. I’ve seen positive changes in their self-awareness and relationships.
Through my practicum and capstone, I will use quantitative and qualitative data to inform educators and leaders about the benefits of these practices and advocate for their implementation as best practices in the classroom.
I also helped establish a Wellness Committee, running a weekly afterschool wellness club and organizing wellness fairs. Our efforts earned us the 2024 Wellness Distinction Award from Anne Arundel County Public Schools.
Additionally, I volunteer, leading professional development training for the Maryland State Education Association, equipping other educators with the skills to implement SEL, mindfulness, and yoga in their classrooms and school communities.
