Help Struggling Readers Build Skills & Move to 21st Century
My students need technology equipment, such as mice for laptops, an iPad, and a printer to help them connect their reading skills to real world projects and applications.
Do you know what it is like to feel like you are clueless while everyone around you seems to be an expert? My students have yet to discover how much the world around them is being integrated with the constantly advancing technology world.
My students are motivated, good hearted and excited learners.
They are in a constant battle to overcome the academic and financial restraints of their families to secure a better future for themselves. Regardless of their disadvantages they show up to school each day ready to learn and eager to try a new adventure in our academic environment. They plaster a smile on their face even though they do without things that most others take for granted like electricity, parents to help with homework, and clothes to keep them warm.
My Project
The world of reading and writing is constantly changing with the ever evolving world of technology. With access to the latest technological advancements students will be able to have access to the way they will actually be expected to perform in the college arena and the career world. Tablets allow us to mirror the expectations of the future with apps that allow us to do video sharing, live talk with experts, creating stories in faster, easier and new ways for students that don't require a pencil and paper, live readers for struggling students, and one-on-one targeted help for students who need help but have to wait for the teacher who is helping others. Please, help my students get an iPad, mice for laptops and a a printer to assist us in creating real world projects that motivate them to grow their reading skills.
These students need help acquiring the skills for an ever changing world, so that they are better prepared to be self learners who are able to make a positive impact on our community once they graduate from high school.
