This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Children with special needs paint the world with beautiful colors each day." -Author Unknown
My classroom is a warm and inviting space where all students are encouraged to try their best and use their unique colors in ways that teach others.
My students don't have disabilities, but rather each one of them has unique abilities that color the world around them. They are inspirations to the staff and peers within our school community. My students are enthusiastic about learning and want to try their best.
My Project
My students need a refrigerator. One of their favorite activities every week in our classroom is FoodieFriday. It enhances their math, literacy, and social skills. Each week the students read a news article that has a food recipe attached to it related to the news of the week. For example: If the students are reading about King Tut, the recipe may involve making an Egyptian dessert. Students are able to work on reading a recipe, measuring ingredients, and communicating with each other. We have a microwave and convectional oven. All we need now is a place to keep milk, eggs, and any other item we need for cooking.

Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
