This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students wanted to take on this project because they heard about the declining number of Monarch Butterflies. Their mission is to create a butterfly garden so that when the monarchs are migrating they will be able to find the flowers needed for repopulation.

With the raised flower beds, my gifted and talented students not only want to help the monarchs but also create an outdoor learning center for our whole campus to learn about gardening and pollinators.

Our rural school consists of about 300 students and is located along the migratory path of Monarchs.
