Help Save Our Guitars!

My students need 5 guitar stands so that the five guitars that currently do not have a stand to rest on do not get destroyed! Having electric guitars in my public high school jazz orchestra is such a motivating attraction for students to join this demanding and rigorous program - we need our guitars in the best possible shape, and can only save our guitars with these guitar stands, which will protect them when they are not in use!

My high-school students struggle with the realities of every day life and have to negotiate a financially strapped public school system. Nevertheless, when it comes to the members of our jazz orchestra, socio-economic circumstances are no obstacle to learning to play instrumental music with discipline and passion.

One of the most motivating instruments in my jazz orchestra is the electric guitar. My students join long waiting lists for the chance to commit to jazz orchestra on this instrument. The more working guitars we have, the more students we can plug into the life-changing experience of our jazz orchestra program, with all of its challenges and rewards. Unfortunately, although we have succeeded in assembling a small collection of used electric guitars for the students to play, we have no guitar stands to store them on when not in use, thus our investment is constantly in danger of being ruined, no matter how carefully my students attempt to store their instruments.

That is why I have submitted this proposal to donorschoose and am now appealing to your generosity to help in funding "Help Save our Guitars!" If donorschoose.org, with your help, is able to purchase five guitar stands for my jazz orchestra program, that is five electric guitars - an investment of many thousands of dollars and of incalculable value to the students affected - that are saved.

Your contribution to this project will help to ensure that my guitarists have working instruments, and an appropriate, safe place to store them, for years to come. On behalf of my nine current and countless future electric guitar students, I thank you in advance for your generosity.
