Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am currently a third-grade teacher to amazing students in a low-income community. I have the same students from last year because I was given the opportunity to loop with them. I am so thankful for that. We are having a fabulous year. Aside from being in the Class Champions and Coyotes Reading program, they are students that strive to be their best selves each day.
My students set high standards for themselves and push themselves to be their very best each day.
We are an extremely close classroom with much to celebrate.
My Project
We've all heard of vending machines, but what about book vending machines?! This is what I would love to bring to my school to help "feed" all the growing minds of our students.
The excitement of having a new book would be amplified by being able to choose your book from a vending machine!
The vending machine would be used as a school-wide reward system, with teachers having special gold coins to be able to pass out to those students demonstrating exceptional behavior! My school already does a great job incentivizing learning but this vending machine would take it to an even higher level. There is no better reward than a reward that continues to foster a love for reading and learning!
Imagine being a student again and receiving a "gold token" that would allow you to get a brand new book to take home! Not only will this project help increase the excitement for showing our school's core values but it will also allow more students to build their own library of books at home!
