Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Aristotle believed that virtue and excellence can only be achieved from good habits. For too many of my students, their habits are poorly formed because of rough conditions outside of their control. Most of my students are first or second generation Americans. Many face such confined living conditions that the idea of just going outside to play seems foreign to them.
To further complicate matters the reality of the learning loss caused by remote and hybrid learning has added another wrinkle to already difficult lives.
They will need so much more to be successful in the coming year.
My students need opportunities to experiences physical activities that will allow them to round into virtuous, diligent, and healthy teens and adults. These kids deserve avenues to explore what is available outside their urban environments.
To that end I am hoping to further my students love of athletics by incorporating three new sports, Satryan, Oval, and Eclipse ball into our lessons. Not only does this give them new avenues to explore exciting new ways to stay active, but it also will help reinforce already known sports like tennis and volleyball.
