My Project

We are a 6th-8th grade alternative program that services overaged and under-credited students. Our program specializes in high-quality academic instruction and assessments; behavior intervention & management; social-emotional; clinical & community support.

"Self-care isn't a luxury; it's a necessity."

The majority of my students come from low socioeconomic families. They do not have access to basic personal hygiene commodities because they are facing circumstances of homelessness, living in emergency shelters, and foster care. They are in desperate need of these daily essentials.

In order to fill in this gap, my students and I have created a hygiene and laundry pantry. Due to some students' personal living circumstance, they come to school with their uncleaned uniforms and other clothing entire needing to be washed and dried. By providing these resources for our students, it will help increase their attendance, self-esteem, and motivate them to thrive academically in the learning environment. My students will also learn the importance of personal self-care, maintaining a healthy daily routine, and avoiding preventive health challenges.
