My Students

As a beginning teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide a creative and safe environment for my students.

My students are eager, energetic learners with big emotions!

They like to move, read and love lots and lots of positive attention. Many of my students are not able to experience a "typical" home life due to their situations. From the minute they walk in, I focus on their potential and providing an environment that allows them to learn more than just what the curriculum tells me to teach. Many of my students are still learning how to handle their big emotions, so we spend a lot of time learning coping strategies. I may not be able to control their home lives, but I can certainly control their experience in our classroom. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic growth.

My Project

Many of my students do not have access to technology outside of school. My students will be able to use the requested tablets during small, flexible reading and math groups as well as during our intervention times. The tablets will not only target their individual learning needs with fun games and activities, but they also allow for other students to receive more individualize instruction of math and literacy.

In our growing world of technology, it is vital for students to have ample access to technology.

By having these three tablets in our classroom, students will have the opportunity to explore the world around them when they might not have the experience do to so outside of school. My students deserve the same learning experiences as schools who are able to provide ample access to technology for their students!
