Help me give my students headphones, cases, and a charging station for our new Kindles in order to keep these resources in working condition to grow our brains!
My students have a passion for growing friendships and learning all they can! We are a Title I school where the majority of our students participate in free and reduced rate lunch. We love learning alongside one another!
The students who enter my classroom are already behind their more affluent peers in reading.
We are committed to growing our brains! My kids love exploring and stretching their schema to learn more about the world around them. The students and parents are enthusiastic about learning, but do not have the tools (books, writing utensils, etc.) to work on reading and writing outside of school. With a longer school day, longer school year, and strategic planning, my students will make significant gains to leave first grade reading on grade level. I can't wait to see what they will do as they move along their educational journeys!
My Project
We recently received Amazon Kindle Fires for use in our classroom through another DonorsChoose.org project. We are so excited to use these in order to interact with reading and STEM apps that will help reinforce what we are learning in class. These will be an important part of our independent learning time.
However, first graders are not always gentle with materials.
The headphones will help us use all technology (tablets and computers) in our classroom independently and quietly. These cases will prevent major and minor wear on the tablets so they can be used throughout the entire school year and for years to come! The charging station will ensure that the tablets are ready to go each day for student learning. My kiddos and I appreciate you helping us get out tablets up and running in our classroom!
