This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
When my students entered my classroom in August, it was many of their first times in school. As their teacher I feel it is my responsibility to educate them, but also make school fun! I want them to love to come to school. For many of them, school is their safe haven as many of them do not have it easy. They walk to school on streets plagued with drugs and crime and many live in impoverished living conditions and come from broken homes. My 20 students are bright and full of potential and they deserve so much more. Please help me foster their love for learning and help make their lives better.
My Project
Having these supplies will make a huge impact on my student's learning experience. Our school has come out of turnaround status which is wonderful, but it also means our budget has been cut. Unfortunately we do not have enough of the basic supplies like glue, paper, hand sanitizer, tissues and construction paper. Having these supplies would help tremendously!
This experience is my students' first time in school and I want it to be everything they dreamed!
Part of our day is spent in centers or workstations. These small group activities are skill based and essential for our learning environment. While I am working with a small group of 3 to 4 children, the other students are in pairs working on their workstation for a skill they need to master. My students absolutely love workstation and center time. They have all told me it is their favorite time of the day! Having a color printer with ink would help create all the fun and engaging activities they use to master the skills needed! In addition having specific pre-made center activities will be helpful for the students to start out with, while I am creating all the other centers. The magic boards will be exciting for my students! They will be able to practice writing their names, letters, numbers and sight words. I know they will love the wiki stix too! This will help those tactile learners form letters and numbers!
I know that my students will be so excited to have everything on our wish list!
