This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from many different backgrounds. The school is a Title One school located in one of New York City’s lowest, socio-economic areas. Some of my students live in the temporary housing near the school.
Enthusiastic about learning, my students come into the classroom each day, ready for a fun-filled day of excitement and learning.
I encourage them to be curious and creative as they make their way through the adventures of learning. I love how they get so excited about learning each and every day.
My Project
I work hard to create an environment in which students have a love of learning. They choose to spend their choice time enriched in literacy such as writing letters and making lists. Many things are changing in education and yet, we expect the children to sit in the same hard, plastic chairs. Many students find it difficult to sit in these tradition chairs for an extended period of time. They slide, tip their chairs, kick their feet out, the works!
My 'wiggle worms' need an alternative option and flexible seating is the solution.
I have seen firsthand how a bouncy, balance chair can help a child move in his natural state yet, still be able to focus on a given task. Your donation will help my students work in a comfortable setting.
