This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

With rising prices and increasing consumer debt, the need for financial literacy has never been more urgent. Unfortunately, our school does not offer a dedicated class on essential topics like budgeting, credit, insurance, and investing. While our Economics teachers do their best to cover these subjects, there's never enough time to fully prepare students with the financial knowledge they need.

The Financial Literacy Library (FLL) will serve as a school-wide resource, giving students the opportunity to explore the world of personal finance on their own.

In the future, I hope to establish a personal finance club where students can collaborate, discuss key financial topics, and use the FLL as a valuable guide.

As a Title I school, the majority of our families are low-income, and most young people learn about personal finance from their families. When that foundational knowledge is lacking, it limits their ability to achieve upward financial mobility. This library has the potential to be a true game changer for our community.
