My Project

Reading opens doors, sparks imagination, and builds the confidence students need to succeed in every subject. We are launching a nautical-themed reading incentive program that transforms independent reading into an exciting voyage of discovery.

Each student begins their Personal Voyage with a good book and a lanyard.

As they reach reading milestones throughout the year, they earn collectible enamel pins that represent each stage of their journey. Every new milestone is celebrated by ringing the ship's bell, creating a memorable moment of accomplishment that encourages students to keep reading. Over time, each student's lanyard becomes a visual record of their perseverance, growth, and love of reading.

Every six weeks during student conferences, students who reach their personalized reading goal will also earn a sea animal cutout to add to our hallway bulletin board. They will proudly write their name on it and place it on the "ocean," reminding every student that their reading journey is making waves.

This program is designed to make reading something students eagerly anticipate rather than another assignment. The excitement of collecting pins, celebrating achievements, and watching their journey grow helps create a positive reading culture. For many students, especially reluctant readers, having tangible goals and public recognition can make all the difference. Students of all reading levels have the opportunity to experience success and continue progressing at their own pace.

Your generosity will provide the collectible enamel pins and materials needed to launch this exciting reading initiative for our students. Every donation helps create a school culture where reading is celebrated, accomplishments are recognized, and every child has the opportunity to become a confident, enthusiastic reader.

Together, we can help our students chart their own course, discover new worlds through books, and experience the joy of reaching each new destination on their reading voyage.
