This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Here in OT , we aim to foster independence and promote executive function skills, fine motor skills, and thinking outside of the box through crafting activities that allow for all of the students to increase their sensory abilities for successful academic participation. These products will help us to achieve and promote all that we do in occupational therapy to help our students improve their classroom success through working on fine motor skills, sensory processing skills, visual motor integration skills, and metacognition skills.
While we don’t have to have specific lesson plans in OT, all of these items will help our students through crafting, fine motor manipulation, and practicing letter identification and recognition.
Some of our students have sensory needs so those bouncy seats would be awesome for them to let out some energy while still being able to attend to their assignments and OT tasks. The lacing beading and snapping items are excellent to work on bimanual skills (using both sides of the body together) and in hand manipulation/fine motor skills. Can’t forget the playdoh to help our hand strength! Of course with all of these items, things get messy so some help with cleaning supplies would be extremely helpful!
