My Project

Our elementary STEM program has continued to expand year after year since our initial efforts to get hands-on, STEM education in our PreK-6th grade elementary building. Currently, our STEM class is part of a specials rotation where we see 3rd through 6th graders once every five days for 45 minutes each class, and as of this year, our K-2nd grade students once every week for 30 minutes. Our goal for next year is to collaborate with our Early Childhood program and provide some Technology Coaching and co-teaching with their teachers to expand STEM education to even our youngest learners.

Our elementary building has approximately 900 students and hands-on, project-based learning has been an excellent way for students to engage in their learning with a power of choice.

With the purchase of these additional robots to complete our current robot lineup, our students will be able to work hands-on in pairs or very small groups towards the ITEM Standard 7.2 in which they can identify the concepts of technology by choosing, using, and troubleshooting current technology as the coding and use of the robots will be sure to provide multiple hands-on opportunities to exercise these skills.
