Help Rehab Speech Therapy room from Hurricane Harvey
My students need rugs for floor play, fun activities to keep little hands busy, extra lighting for our temporary metal building and shelves to keep our new donated items on!
The awesome group of kiddos I serve range in age from 3 to 14 at both the elementary and middle school. I am the Speech Therapist for this group of approximately 60 children. Their services are all based on individual deficits in their communication. Some are served for articulation delays and language disorders, while others are more severe with focus on feeding or strengthening muscles of the face and mouth. I have always tried to make their speech time fun and motivating.
My students enjoy hands on activities such as playdoh, blocks, crafts, magnets and pegs.
I love it when they are having so much fun, they don't even see it as "work".
My Project
My project is to bring back a little spark in the speech therapy room. We have been set up in a large storage closet while waiting for our new portable buildings. Requested items will help fill our speech room with necessary and fun items. I hope to be able to make our temporary metal building feel fun and cozy as we wait for our school to be repaired. My students have been such good sports as we have done our speech work over the past several months in a somewhat lacking storage closet. Can't wait to add a little cheer to our surroundings.
