Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school media center is pretty big. It is 75' long and 55' wide. There are various work areas, nine computers...and no recycling containers.
Our kids get through an awful lot of paper every week. Won't you help us recycle it?
We'd like to have five recycling containers. They are sturdy and the containers are dark blue, which goes with the library's red, white and blue color scheme.
We'd also like to have a bulletin board where we can post recycling information. Our science teacher is working hard to turn our whole school 'green'. Her fifth grade class picks up recyclable materials from the whole school. We can use the bulletin board to document and publicize the fifth graders' recycling efforts. Her class recycles used electronics as well as paper. The bulletin board can be used to publicize the electronics recycling scheme to the parents who visit our media center.
Why should you help out our library in particular? Our kids are poor. We are a 'Title 1' school, and approximately 80% of our kids receive free or reduced lunch. Plus, the recycling containers will be used by kids from every class in the school, and the bulletin board will be seen by all our students: by helping us, you'll be promoting recycling across campus.
Won't you please help our school to 'go green'?
