Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My twenty-one fourth-grade students from the Frog Hollow neighborhood in Hartford are caring, creative, and love to have fun in the classroom! We can often be found using various methods to solve problems collaboratively, devouring books, and sharing our writing with others.
We have created a classroom community that expects excellence from all, specifically by showing respect for ourselves, for others, and for the environment at all times.
These expectations have helped us all persevere even when things challenge us.
Our classroom needs various resources and materials so that my students can receive the education that they deserve. I want to provide them with a classroom where they can discover new ideas and unlock their full potential. They are a wonderful group that brings a smile to my face everyday!
My Project
Everyday in our classroom, students will participate in reading centers while the teacher works with small groups to provide more individualized instruction. To ensure that students are on task, it's important for me to provide them with high-interest activities that challenge my students at the correct level. Since I have a wide range of abilities in my class, I need various materials to ensure all of my students can be successful. We need the bins to keep us organized so our transitions can be smooth and so we can use all of our time for learning. Students will then get to participate in fun activities while also developing their literacy skills at the same time.
