Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Children love to explore outside and learn about insects! I am requesting books that will help build my students' literacy and language skills. Not only will they help build vocabulary and conversational skills, but they will encourage them to think of and write their own insect stories. The math games will help the students with counting, quantifying, relating quantity to numbers, and developing their fine motor skills. The insect costumes will allow the children to engage in dramatic play that is directly connected to what they are learning. Dramatic play can help build comprehension as students act out familiar stories, and problem-solving skills, encourage conversations, social emotional skills, learn about themselves and the world around them, and much more! With the books and games, this unit could be a memorable and enriching unit with many skill-building activities for our students.
The various books, math counters, puzzles, and dramatic play items provided through this project will help my students (and future students) develop language and literacy skills, decision-making, fine motor skills, inventiveness, math skills, problem-solving, and much more!
