This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Music is finally here and thriving - something you don't hear much in this day and age where many arts programs are being cut. This year we even had to cap the the number of students in the music classes!

Our music students range from complete beginners with no previous experience, to students playing since a young age, to those in top honors ensembles.

Our music classes include, Keyboard, Guitar, Beginning Band, Percussion Ensemble, Beginning Strings, Advanced Band (Marching and Concert Band), Chorus, and Chamber Choir. We will be starting Jazz Band next semester and hoping to offer an Advanced String Orchestra next year.

My Project

This campaign will support the current, potential, and future students of the music department. As the department continues to grow, more music stands are needed. By having an additional 18 music stands, we no longer have to share the one classroom set between the two music classes located on the opposite side of campus. With these foldable music stands, it not only allows for better use of space in the classroom, but allows them to be used on the go. These are not your usual run-of-the-mill wire stands, but solid and durable quality music stand.

Our students often get asked to perform outside of the classroom, both on campus and off campus.

Whether preforming at community events, outreach performances at local schools, or even during rehearsal, the students and I no longer will have to spend extra time fixing and tightening music stands, or worrying if a stand will malfunction.

The latter half of the campaign is for updated method books and other supplies. Standard of Excellence has been a long-standing method book for beginning instrumentalists - even I used it when I was in grade school. Made by the same trusted publisher, Kjos has updated the approachability to learning instruments and quickly learning full ensemble music through their new Tradition of Excellence series.
