Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are fabulous! They come to class ready to learn, ready to work and explore new things every day. They are an energetic crew that wants to learn. They set goals for themselves and then strive to meet them both at school and at home.
My second graders live in a rural/suburban public school district.
The majority are on free/reduced lunch plan. They are constantly working to better their reading level and increase math skills and they love learning new concepts in both science and social studies.
My Project
My second graders like and need to move around as they learn. We need large pencil boxes (these are larger than regular school boxes) in order to keep all our supplies organized. These supply boxes will go with my students as they travel from station to station around the room and when we need to take our supplies to other classrooms or our school library. Students will be able to store pencils, markers, index cards, math manipulatives and many other learning tools.
We also need markers and highlighters to help us with handwriting (including cursive!) We will use these highlighters and fine tipped markers to practice our grammar skills and develop better handwriting along with other fine motor activities.
