Help Our Garden Move Forward Into Fall!

Help me give my students a garden experience to remember! We are in need of gardening materials to help our garden move into fall and winter.

My Project

Gardening projects offer numerous benefits for students, including increased academic performance, improved health and nutrition, enhanced social skills, and a deeper understanding of the environment. They also foster critical thinking, observation, and responsibility, contributing to a more holistic learning experience.

Gardening provides a hands-on, active learning experience that connects abstract concepts to the real world.

Students can learn about plant science, biology, chemistry, and math in a tangible way. Research shows that garden-based education can improve academic performance, particularly in math and science.

Students are more likely to eat vegetables they've grown themselves, leading to improved nutrition and healthier eating habits. Gardening also provides a source of fresh, affordable food for families. Our garden program has the added benefit of a mobile kitchen unit that was already donated. Our students will not only be able to harvest fall produce, but cook, serve and eat it as well. This is a wonderful springboard to practicing conversational skills in English around a meal.

Gardening helps students develop a sense of community, belonging, and responsibility. Our current ENL students take such pride in caring for the garden. They come with their families on the weekends to water and weed the garden. Your donation will help the students and families garden to thrive throughout the fall and winter months.

Gardening cultivates critical thinking, observation, and problem-solving skills. Students learn about plant growth, environmental conditions, and how to care for plants, developing a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility.
