This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Taking an awesome group of 15 high school students to the Forestry Challenge. For many this will be their first time in nature surrounded by San Bernardino Mountains and professional Foresters. Students will spend four days in the forest learning about Ecology and Management of the forest landscapes that provide communities with water, recreational opportunities, wood products, and wildlife habitat.
Students will be exposed to field training, field test, scientific knowledge and practical skills involved to be environmental stewards to our forest.
These students will benefit by having a better understanding of the forested environment and will be more likely to choose a career path in the natural resources and attend college.
In order for us to go on this worthwhile adventure we have a critical need for gear to keep these students warm. These requested jackets and sleeping bags will be so important to the success of this trip. My students are funny, knowledgeable environmentalist. Please consider helping out my 15 eager environmental nerds stay warm!
