This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Protecting our environment is a top priority for my students and me. Becoming good stewards by protecting natural resources, such as water is important. My environmental scientists want to test water quality and soil quality in several parts of the city to determine if it can be safely used for agriculture and for human purposes.
I plan to used the Environmental Science Water and Soil Quality kits to test water and soil samples from around the city to guage the presence of the following parameters: pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, dissolved minerals, phosphates, phytoplankton, and zooplankton.
Soil quality will be determined by analyzing nutrirent content, pH level, and other factors affecting plant growth.
The results will be used to detimine if water and soil from various locations are safe to grow crops and to be used for animal consumption. Students will also share their findings with city officials.
