Help Our Classroom Say Hi Tech! With High Tech Solutions!
Help me give my students technology items such as a QBall throwable microphone, digital camera, document camera, digital microscope and a printer, plus a tech cart for storage!
My students love to learn! Third grade is a very curious grade. Eight and nine year olds are sponges and they soak up anything you will give them and never cease asking questions. I teach math and science to two regular education classes with ELLs (English language learners) and have students from all over the world. Some are completely English proficient and some have come to me with absolutely no English. It amazes me how quickly students can learn another language when completely immersed in it. I have up to twenty-five students in each class, and about sixty percent of those students are ELL students.
My Project
We are looking for new technology to add to our classroom. We want to add a digital camera for taking photos of real-life math and science and vlogging about exciting things happening in our classroom. A digital microscope will be used for our science lessons so that we can display magnified images on our whiteboard and student learning can also be magnified. A document camera will be used daily in our classroom for math and science lessons, number talks and for students to show and explain their reasoning and thinking. A printer will allow us to make necessary copies (even when our copy limits at the school have been reached), scan documents and print pictures from our digital cameras.
One of the most exciting items that we are looking to add is the QBALL throwable microphone because who doesn't want to throw a ball around in class?
We have flexible seating and a very relaxed learning environment in our classroom, but when students are answering questions, I sometimes struggle to hear them. This throwable microphone would not only allow me to hear my students better, but it would also help students be more engaged in the lesson by making it fun.
To round out this project, we need a technology cart that can house our digital microscope and document camera for safe keeping! I truly believe that having these tech items in our classroom will help my students become engaged and excited about learning. I always strive to provide my students with rich learning experiences that will leave them wanting to learn more!
