This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"give a child a fish, and you will feed him for a day, teach a child how to fish and you will feed them for a lifetime." Kids in first grade are beginning to learn how to fish, they become explorers in the classroom always learning from one another.

I meet my students today at open house and they are very energetic eager to learn.

They were excited to see the classroom and proudly show their parents the class. My school believes in working together to achieve success. We believe it takes a village to raise a child.

My Project

Last year my students used whiteboards during math. Children love to use whiteboards, and I assess their learning and understanding. I get immediate feedback from them, as I monitor the class. I see their thought processes, during reading time am able to see how they are writing they express their thoughts on their boards. Sometimes they had a little fun drawing pictures about concepts being learned.

The boards that I have in class are old and unfortunately some of the children cannot afford to buy them.

We are a Title 1 school, most of our children come from low socioeconomic families. These boards are going to impact their learning in a great way. Last year my kids exceeded in our district evaluations in math. I know that whiteboards help them achieve all that because they always wrote their knowledge on those boards. Please help my new class be as successful as my class from last year. Thanks!
