Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
It only takes one person to make a difference. My students want that chance. Help us with this project and become a part of the "larger" picture.
My students are from low income families with limited or minimal financial resources.
When they first arrive to school students are asked to bring supplies. My students brought in less than one third of the asked list. We are tight and manage with what we have or what comes out of my own pocket. I live for my students and thrive on their success. They are eager to learn and absorb everything around them.
We are currently working on calculating how much water is being used, consumed and wasted. In order to create a project to inform the community and the world on how they can help save our natural resource water and make a difference. Through their own discoveries, investigations and experiments our goal is to create a message that will last a lifetime.
My Project
Given materials like paper, pencils, and dry erase markers we can easily chart our progress. With science books about water students can research and investigate what is already out there. With these resources students will be able to achieve the multiple steps this project will take. The students will learn subjects like math, and science. Through playing with numbers, equations, and formulas they will discover a new world unfolding in front of them. Being a dual language program we go through supplies more quickly since instead of 21 students in a classroom, there are 42 students working on this project. With more hands, we hope for more success.
This project if done successfully could help change the world for generations.
Think of phrases like reduce, reuse and recycle. It takes one voice, one child, one idea to completely change our way of thinking. My class hopes to accomplish that.
