Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend an inner-city elementary school in a low, socioeconomic community. Many are from single parent homes, live in multi-family homes, live in subsidized housing, qualify for free or reduced price breakfast and lunch and have other obstacles that they face on a daily basis.
Despite these obstacles, the one constant is that they all come to school ready and eager to learn.
My students are at a point in their life where they are learning how to be responsible, respectful and safe by keeping themselves and our classroom organized.
My Project
As we approach the second half of the school year, ink and paper are becoming more and more scarce. Although supplies are decreasing, my students continue to need paper and ink for homework packets, small group collaboration, and independent practice.
Nothing is more discouraging to students then creating a wonderful project and not being able to print it because there is not enough ink or paper.
My students continue to be eager to learn, but basic paper and ink are decreasing. My students will be able to complete their day-to-day activities, weekly homework, and special research projects with the resources to print their work in both black and white and color.
